New Glarus Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10549 was honored with an All-State award this summer at the VFW Department of Wisconsin State Convention in Rothschild. The local post was one of just 20 of Wisconsin’s approximately 220 VFW posts to receive the recognition.

Senior Vice Commander Ed Andreas and Quartermaster/Adjutant Bill Hustad represented the New Glarus post at the June 10-13 convention. They were photographed there with Wisconsin VFW State Commander Ty Letto and VFW Quartermaster General Marc Garduno. Wisconsin VFW records confirm Letto served as state commander for the 2025-26 year, while the national organization identifies Garduno as its quartermaster general.

The All-State designation is based on more than simply membership in the statewide organization. Posts seeking All-State recognition must satisfy requirements established in the State Commander’s Program Book. Although specific requirements can change from year to year, recent criteria have included membership performance, participation in VFW programs and organizational requirements involving audits, bonding, inspections and election reports.
