New Glarus Vision Launches Duck Race Fundraiser
Only 300 ducks will enter New Glarus Vision’s inaugural Little Sugar River race during Oktoberfest on Sept. 27, raising money for annual scholarships for graduating seniors and books distributed to New Glarus Elementary School students.
Three hundred ducks are preparing to hit the Little Sugar River during New Glarus Oktoberfest, and residents can now put their names behind one of them while supporting local students.
New Glarus Vision Inc. will hold its inaugural Duck Race at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27. Ducks may be adopted for $5 each, with cash and prizes from local businesses awaiting the winners.
Money raised through the race will support two of New Glarus Vision’s continuing educational programs: annual scholarships for graduating New Glarus High School seniors and books provided each year to New Glarus Elementary School students.
Participants do not need to be present during the race to win. With only 300 ducks available, however, organizers are encouraging people to enter before the entire flock has been claimed.
