NGYBA Launches Fall Water Softener Salt Fundraiser

The New Glarus Youth Baseball & Softball Association is again selling water softener salt this fall, with local athletes delivering orders to homes in New Glarus and Monticello as part of the group’s latest fundraising campaign.

This year’s fundraiser offers 40-pound bags of solar salt for $11 each, or $10 per bag for orders of 10 or more. There is a five-bag minimum. Orders are due Oct. 29, with delivery scheduled for Nov. 8.

According to the association, proceeds will help pay for construction of a new backstop at Vets Park. The group also plans to use fundraising dollars for future upgrades at Vets Park and Glarner Park, along with support for high school programs, scholarships and the association’s free annual pool party for youth athletes.

Damian Mimetz, an NGYBA board member, said the fundraiser also gives young athletes a direct role in serving the community, from loading trailers and trucks to carrying bags to residents’ homes.
