The Nov. 3 general election is two weeks away, and voters in New Glarus, Monticello, Belleville and five nearby towns can now check their polling places, prepare for upcoming registration and absentee-voting deadlines, and review sample ballots before heading to the polls.
Polls throughout Wisconsin will be open Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone in line by 8 p.m. may vote. Wisconsin requires an acceptable photo ID to vote, and people registering at the polls must also provide proof of residence.
The deadline to register online or by mail passed Oct. 14, but eligible residents may still register in person with their municipal clerk through 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Election Day registration is also available at the voter’s assigned polling place.
In-person absentee voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 20, with dates and hours established by individual municipal clerks. For most voters, the deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot is 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. Completed absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. Election Day; a postmark alone is not sufficient.
