Oktoberfest 2026 Ends with a New Record in New Glarus

The celebration is over, but one final number from this year’s New Glarus Oktoberfest shows just how busy the festival was — and how far it climbed beyond last year’s already impressive beer-sales total, helped by great weather and volunteers.

Oktoberfest 2026 Ends with a New Record in New Glarus

New Glarus Oktoberfest 2026 ended with a new record: 188 barrels of beer sold during the festival, according to Annie O’Connor, executive director of the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce. O’Connor reported the final total Tuesday, saying it was about 20 barrels more than last year.

Put another way, a standard U.S. beer barrel holds 31 gallons. At 188 barrels, that works out to 5,828 gallons of beer, or 745,984 ounces — enough for approximately 62,165 12-ounce cups.

The total provides one more measure of just how busy Oktoberfest was this year, as crowds gathered in downtown New Glarus for the annual celebration.

The festival also had a major advantage this year: great weather. Pleasant conditions helped make it easy for visitors to stay downtown, move between festival areas and enjoy the celebration.
