Prairie Haus Apartments Submit Early Application for Phase II
A preliminary application outlines a 50-unit, 55-and-older apartment building next to Prairie Haus, with a mix of market-rate and affordable housing proposed on Elmer Road in New Glarus.
A second phase of Prairie Haus is moving into public view after its owners made a preliminary application to the Village of New Glarus for a new apartment building next to the existing 40-unit development on Elmer Road. According to an interview with Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corp. President Mike Slavish, the concept now before village officials calls for a 50-unit building for residents age 55 and older, with a mix of market-rate and affordable housing.
The proposal would place a three-story apartment building on land adjacent to the current Prairie Haus Apartments at 1001 Elmer Road, with underground parking below. Slavish said the early application was filed to solicit official feedback from the Planning Commission, and he emphasized that many details still remain unresolved.
