Primrose Lutheran Church Sets Annual Fall Supper

Primrose Lutheran Church will welcome the community back for its annual Fall Supper on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the church, 8770 Ridge Drive in rural Belleville. Dine-in and carryout meals will be available, with no reservations required.

The supper traces its roots to 1932, when the congregation held a meal to raise money for furnishings inside the church. It was paused during World War II and only a handful of other years over the decades.

The original menu nearly a century ago featured chicken and lutefisk, a traditional Norwegian dish made from dried whitefish soaked in water and lye, which gives it a soft, gelatinous texture. In 1965, the menu changed to the familiar combination still served today: meatballs and ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, cranberry relish, lefse, rolls, Norwegian baked goods and a choice of apple or pumpkin pie.

Dine-in meals are $18, while carryout meals are $19. Payment may be made by cash, check or Venmo.
