Rachel’s Shoppe Brings New Art Space to New Glarus
Rachel Christopoulos will open Rachel’s Shoppe on Aug. 15 at 429 Second St., combining her working studio with a retail space for colorful Wisconsin-inspired artwork, handmade goods and distinctive creations from other regional artists.
When Rachel Christopoulos first stepped into the available storefront at 429 Second St., she was struck by the morning sunlight streaming through the windows.
The New Glarus artist could picture paintings displayed near the front, visitors browsing handmade creations and her easels set up in the back. After spending months hoping to find an affordable space in the community she calls home, she decided almost immediately that she had found it.
“I think this could work,” Christopoulos recalled thinking. “I could see people coming in here, looking at artwork, painting in the back. I could see this working.”
That vision will become a reality when Rachel’s Shoppe celebrates its grand opening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.
