The New Glarus Merchant Association will hold its second Shop New Glarus Speaker Series event Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Bailey’s Run Vineyard & Winery, with local filmmaker Steve Donovan presenting “Better Video Starts Before You Press Record.”

Donovan, owner of Steve Donovan Film & Video, will focus on how business owners can make video more useful by first deciding what they want to say, who they want to reach and what they want the video to accomplish.

The presentation will include practical ways businesses can plan, shoot and use video to answer customer questions, build trust and show the personality behind a business. The emphasis is on strategy and preparation rather than simply having expensive equipment.

The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Bailey’s Run Vineyard & Winery, N8523 Klitzke Road in New Glarus. Networking and a happy hour are scheduled from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., followed by Donovan’s presentation and a question-and-answer session at 6:15 p.m.
