The Swiss Historical Village & Museum will host a commemorative church service and an old-fashioned pie and ice cream social Saturday, Aug. 8, on the museum grounds at 612 Seventh Ave. in New Glarus.

The event will run from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., beginning with the pie and ice cream social. Attendees will be able to make a donation for a slice of pie and participate in a game of croquet set up on the grounds.

The croquet activity is being offered in connection with the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The annual church service will begin at 5:30 p.m. inside the museum’s replica of the first log church in New Glarus.
