The Highway 69 Roundabout: What Drivers Need to Know

For generations, motorists traveling south from New Glarus toward Monticello and Monroe have passed through the intersection of Wisconsin Highway 69, County Highway C and Urban Road without stopping.

That will change when construction is completed on a new roundabout at the intersection near Monticello. Highway 69 motorists will have to slow down, yield to traffic already circulating and proceed around a central island before continuing toward Monticello or New Glarus.

For many New Glarus-area residents, it will be their first regularly encountered roundabout close to home. Motorists who frequently travel toward Madison may already be familiar with the roundabout at Highway 69 and County Highway PB near Paoli. However, drivers who primarily travel between New Glarus, Monticello and Monroe may have little regular experience with them.
