The Matterhorn Ice Cream & Grill Sets June 7 Grand Opening
After passing inspection, the new owners of the former Kennedy’s property say The Matterhorn Ice Cream & Grill will officially open Sunday, June 7, with plans centered on family involvement, seasonal service, and a familiar downtown favorite.
The former Kennedy’s property in New Glarus is set to reopen under new ownership as The Matterhorn Ice Cream & Grill, with a grand opening planned for Sunday, June 7, after the business passed its inspection this week.
Owner Sheri Wichser said the family may begin with a soft launch before the grand opening as they work through the early stages of operating the business. Wichser said the shop’s regular hours are expected to be 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Monday, with the business closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The reopening marks a new chapter for the downtown site at 400 Railroad St., which previously housed Kennedy’s Ice Cream & Grill. Earlier this spring, the property had changed hands and The Matterhorn LLC, with Sheri Ann Wichser listed as agent, had purchased the site. The property also includes the upstairs vacation rental now known as Matterhorn Summit Gasthaus.
