This Weekend: New Glarus is Packed with Music and Swiss Traditions
From live music and farmers market shopping to Firefest, Swiss National Day celebrations and the 97th Volksfest, New Glarus offers four packed days of food, culture, family activities and entertainment from July 30 through Aug. 2.
New Glarus will welcome August with a full weekend of live music, food, family activities and celebrations of the community’s Swiss heritage.
The schedule begins this evening and continues through Sunday, giving residents and visitors opportunities to explore the farmers market, support the volunteer fire department, hear local and regional musicians and participate in several Swiss National Day events.
Thursday, July 30
The weekend gets an early start at 6 p.m. Thursday when Me & D performs at Dirty Dog Taphaus. The duo offers an easy opportunity to begin the weekend downtown with live music, drinks and time with friends.
Friday, July 31
The New Glarus Farmers Market will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Bank of New Glarus parking lot, 1101 State Highway 69. Visitors can browse locally grown produce, baked goods, crafts and other offerings while supporting area farmers, makers and small businesses.
