Top 10 Fastest Growing Communities in Green County
New state population estimates show the Village of New Glarus has grown 4.2% since the 2020 Census, placing it fourth among Green County municipalities. The Town of New Glarus also made the top 10, while one neighboring town posted even faster growth.
The Village of New Glarus is among the fastest-growing communities in Green County, according to the latest final municipal population estimates from the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
Comparing the 2020 Census with the state’s latest 2025 estimates, New Glarus grew from 2,266 residents to 2,361, an increase of 95 people, or 4.19%. That puts the village fourth among all Green County cities, villages and towns by percentage growth and makes it the fastest-growing incorporated municipality entirely within the county.
The Town of New Glarus also landed in the top 10, growing from 1,393 to an estimated 1,432 residents. Combined, the village and town added an estimated 134 residents between 2020 and 2025.
The Wisconsin Department of Administration’s Demographic Services Center produces population estimates for all Wisconsin municipalities. Estimates use the previous census as a starting point and incorporate indicators including housing units, automobile registrations and other measures of population change.
