Trails Pizza officially opened its doors Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 700 Railroad St. in New Glarus, completing a transition that began when the longtime Sugar River Pizza location changed hands this summer.

The restaurant had quietly welcomed customers for a soft opening Friday night, giving the crew a chance to test the operation before the formal opening. Trails Pizza described the soft opening as successful and thanked those who came out to help the staff prepare for the first full day of business.

The opening came after a brief delay. Trails Pizza had announced a weekend opening but later postponed it, citing unexpected equipment malfunctions and other behind-the-scenes challenges. Despite the hurdles that came with getting a new restaurant up and running, opening day carried a decidedly upbeat feel. Customers and staff appeared happy to finally see Trails Pizza serving diners, while the smell of pizza and freshly prepared Italian dishes filled the building as the crew settled into its first official day.
