Darlington Places Police Chief on Paid Administrative Leave
Following the meeting Wednesday of the Darlington Special Police Committee, Police Chief Szvon Conway was placed on paid administrative leave after his recent OWI arrest. Sgt. Nicholas Mantsch has been named acting police chief while the disciplinary process moves forward.
UPDATE: City of Monroe has officially cited Conway for first offense operating while intoxicated, hit and run to property adjacent to a highway, inattentive driving, unsafe lane deviation and failure to notify police of an accident.
DARLINGTON, Wis. — The City of Darlington has placed Police Chief Szvon D. Conway on paid administrative leave following his arrest last week on suspicion of operating while intoxicated after a hit-and-run crash in Monroe.
The action came during a special police meeting on Wednesday afternoon. The committee met in closed session to consider employment matters before returning to open session to take action.
Darlington Mayor Dave Roelli said the committee voted to place Conway on administrative leave, which will remain in effect while the city's disciplinary process continues.
