Experienced Core Has Monroe-New Glarus Swimming & Aiming High

The Monroe-New Glarus girls swimming team enters the 2026 season with an experienced group of returning swimmers, several newcomers with competitive swimming backgrounds and a move back to Division 2 that could create additional postseason opportunities.

Coach Rachel Root, who leads the program with Anika Beutler and Kari Morrison, said the team is approaching the season with goals that extend beyond wins and losses.

“We’re really excited about the season ahead,” Root said. “Our goals are to celebrate new Personal Records (PRs), keep growing as swimmers and as a team, and qualify events for the state meet.”

Root said the coaching staff also wants swimmers to challenge themselves, support their teammates and learn how to respond to difficult races. The program includes athletes with different objectives, from swimmers pursuing a trip to state to those using swimming as cross-training or simply looking for the experience of being part of the team.
