Glarner Knights Rally Past Belleville in Regional Thriller
New Glarus erased a five-run deficit and scored six runs in the fifth inning Thursday to defeat rival Belleville 8-7 and advance in the WIAA regional baseball tournament.
The New Glarus Glarner Knights survived a postseason test against their biggest rival Thursday, rallying from behind to defeat the Belleville Wildcats 8-7 in a WIAA Regional Quarterfinal at New Glarus. The victory sends the Glarner Knights on to the next round of the tournament.
For much of the afternoon, it appeared Belleville might spoil New Glarus' playoff hopes. The Wildcats built a 4-0 lead in the third inning and later stretched the advantage to 7-2 after scoring three more runs in the fifth.
But the Glarner Knights answered with the biggest inning of their season.
