Coach Parman Reflects on Six Years Leading Glarner Knights Girls Basketball

After six seasons leading the New Glarus Glarner Knights girls basketball program, Kevin Parman stepped down at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

New Glarus 360 asked Parman to reflect on the timing of his decision, what he hopes players learned from him, the moments that will stay with him and the people who helped support the program along the way. His answers are published below in full.

What made this the right time to retire from coaching girls’ basketball?

“There are a lot of reasons behind decisions like this, and unfortunately, It was time to step away. Coaching has been my life for many years, and it will always be in my blood. It has been such an important part of my life, and I’m incredibly thankful for every season, every player, and every relationship that came from it. I’ve been fortunate to spend so many years doing something I truly love.

Even though I’m stepping away from this role, I still plan to find ways to continue making a positive impact on and off the court by helping build strong female athletes and even stronger young people.
