Kristi’s Restaurant Prepares for New Chapter in New Glarus

For more than a decade, Kristi’s Restaurant has been a cornerstone of downtown New Glarus dining — a place where friends gathered over crab cakes, shrimp sandwiches, and delicious steaks...all served with a smile. Now, owners Kristi and Juan Carlos Lopez Torres are ready to open a new chapter just down the road at 1407 2nd Street, in the long-vacant Town Edge Restaurant space that has been unused since at least 2016.

After 12 years operating downtown, the couple decided to relocate to a single-level building that better suits their lifestyle and family. “We decided to move locations due to the multi levels in our old location,” said owner Kristi Lopez. “We searched for something on one level with no stairs. We also really wanted to have more time to spend with our son, who is a freshman this year in New Glarus.”
