New Coyote Sightings Reveal Emerging Patterns Around New Glarus
Residents continue reporting coyote sightings around New Glarus, helping build a clearer map of possible wildlife corridors while also raising reminders about pets, food sources and what to do when coyotes get too comfortable near people.
Reports of coyotes in and around New Glarus continue to arrive, and a growing collection of sightings is beginning to reveal patterns about where the animals may be traveling through the community.
Since New Glarus 360 first reported on recent coyote activity, readers have continued to submit sightings and, in some cases, photographs. Each report is being added to an interactive map so sightings can be tracked over time and compared against previous reports.
The newest sightings suggest two emerging concentrations. One follows the Sugar River corridor and Sugar River State Trail east of Highway 69, with multiple reports stretching from the New Glarus Home area south toward Veterans Memorial Park, with the greatest concentration near the New Glarus Cemetery. Another cluster has developed on the village's west side near the mobile home park, industrial area and open land along Wisconsin 39.
