New Glarus moved up two spots to No. 7 in Bound's Week 5 Division 5 football coaches poll released Tuesday, continuing a steady stay among the state’s ranked teams as the Glarner Knights enter the second half of the regular season.
The Glarner Knights were No. 9 a week ago after first appearing in the poll in Week 3 at No. 7. Their return to that spot comes after Friday’s 28-21 victory over Mineral Point, which improved New Glarus to 4-1 overall.
Darlington holds the No. 1 position in Division 5, followed by Amherst, Racine Lutheran, Durand-Arkansaw, Lake Country Lutheran and Saint Croix Falls. New Glarus is seventh, ahead of Grantsburg, Brillion and Arcadia.
The ranking gives New Glarus its third consecutive week in the Division 5 top 10 and represents a two-place gain from last week’s poll.
