AAA says a record 72.2 million Americans are expected to travel during Independence Day week, including more than 1.6 million Wisconsinites, while New Glarus pump prices have eased to $3.69 per gallon ahead of the busy July 4 holiday.
Gas prices in New Glarus have dropped ahead of one of the busiest travel periods of the summer, offering some relief to drivers preparing for Independence Day trips.
As of June 29, regular unleaded gasoline was listed at $3.69 per gallon at all three gas stations in New Glarus. That local price was slightly above Wisconsin’s statewide average of $3.651 per gallon reported by AAA on June 29, but below the national average of $3.86 per gallon.
AAA is projecting a record 72.2 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home during the Independence Day holiday period, which runs from June 27 to July 5. Of those travelers, 61.4 million are expected to travel by car, reinforcing July 4 week as one of the biggest road-trip periods of the year.
