New Glarus Lets Big Lead Slip Away in 9-8 Walk-Off Loss at Fennimore
The New Glarus Glarner Knights built a six-run lead early but could not hold off a late Fennimore rally, falling 9-8 on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night.
FENNIMORE, Wis. — The New Glarus Varsity Glarner Knights appeared to be in control early Tuesday night before Fennimore battled back for a dramatic 9-8 walk-off victory.
The Glarner Knights erupted for six runs in the first two innings and led 6-0 before the Eagles steadily chipped away, eventually winning on a game-ending RBI single by Corey Dresen, an elite pitcher and outfielder from Fennimore, in the bottom of the seventh inning.
New Glarus wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Matthew Roth drove in a run with a groundout, Nolan Julseth launched a solo home run to center field, Ethan Colstad added an RBI groundout, and Kamm Nehmer delivered an RBI single as the Knights jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first. An Eagles error helped New Glarus add two more runs in the second and build its largest lead of the game.
