A soaking stretch brought several inches of rain to New Glarus and much of southern Wisconsin late last week, with official gauges showing the heaviest 24-hour period came Friday and Saturday before rainfall began to taper locally.
New Glarus received nearly 5 inches of rain during a four-day stretch that began Thursday, with the official local gauge measuring 4.64 inches by Monday morning.
The heaviest rain came during the 24-hour period ending Saturday morning, when the New Glarus cooperative observer station recorded 2.82 inches. Another 1.11 inches fell by Sunday morning before the rain began to ease, with 0.28 inch reported in the period ending Monday morning.
