McFARLAND, Wis. — The New Glarus Glarner Knights will have four entries headed to the WIAA Division 2 State Track and Field Championships after a strong sectional showing Friday at McFarland High School.

In the program’s first season back competing under its own New Glarus banner in decades, the Glarner Knights turned a promising spring into a state-meet breakthrough.

Brent Weeden delivered the biggest highlight of the night, winning the boys shot put with a throw of 61 feet, 4.5 inches. Weeden edged Columbus senior Wyatt Graffin, who finished second at 61-3.25, by just 1.25 inches to claim the sectional championship.
