Ohana Kitchen Will Bring Hawaiian Warmth to New Glarus
A new family-owned restaurant at 200 5th Avenue is opening in New Glarus, blending Hawaiian culture, familiar hospitality and some longtime Tofflers favorites with new island-inspired flavors.
When the doors reopen this week at 200 5th Avenue, familiar faces will greet visitors—but this time with a tropical twist. The former Tofflers Pub & Grill, a longtime fixture of New Glarus nightlife, has found new life under the ownership of siblings Donald “Kekoa” Nahale and Deeann Nahale-Thomas. Their new restaurant, Ohana Kitchen, blends Hawaiian culture with Swiss hospitality in a way that promises both comfort and something new.
“Ohana means family,” Deeann explained. “We love food and we love good food even more. But about the only thing we love more than food is being around family. We wanted to bring a small taste of how we were raised in Hawaii—where food and family are everything.”
