Sugar River Assault Leads to Attempted Homicide Charge
A 19-year-old man is being held on $100,000 cash bond after authorities said a Sugar River fight left a victim unconscious, not breathing and needing CPR before first responders reached the remote scene.
ALBANY, Wis. — A Janesville man has been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide after authorities say he assaulted a man during a fight Saturday, May 30, on the Sugar River southeast of Albany.
According to the Green County Sheriff’s Office, the Green County Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 3:35 p.m. reporting that a male subject was unresponsive and not breathing after a fight on the river. The location was about 1 mile southeast of the Village of Albany, in a remote area with limited access for first responders.
Sheriff’s deputies, the Albany Fire Department, Albany EMS, Albany Police Department and Green County EMS responded. Authorities said bystanders had started CPR before first responders arrived.
