Sugar River Falls on Senior Night Despite Strong Defensive Effort

The Sugar River Raiders celebrated Senior Night under clear skies Tuesday evening, but a second-half goal by Madison Country Day handed the Raiders a 1-0 non-conference loss.
Sugar River, the Belleville-New Glarus cooperative girls soccer team, battled throughout the night and generated plenty of offensive opportunities, but Madison Country Day goalkeeper Gary turned away 10 shots to preserve the shutout.
The game's lone goal came at the 50:29 mark of the second half when Madison Country Day found the back of the net, breaking a scoreless deadlock.
