Sugar River Shuts Out Stoughton in Regular-Season Finale
Goals from Kate Parman and Nikole Schultz, along with a combined shutout effort in goal, helped Sugar River finish the regular season with a 2-0 non-conference victory over Stoughton.
STOUGHTON, Wis. — The Sugar River Raiders closed the regular season with a convincing 2-0 non-conference victory over Stoughton on a clear Thursday night, finishing the regular season with a 14-5-1 record.
The Raiders, a cooperative program between Belleville and New Glarus, struck early and added a second-half insurance goal while recording a shutout in their final tune-up before postseason play.
Kate Parman put Sugar River on the board just 10 minutes into the match, converting an opportunity created by Cora Funseth to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.
The lead remained intact through halftime thanks to a disciplined defensive effort and solid play in goal. Sugar River continued to pressure the Vikings throughout the evening, generating scoring chances while limiting quality opportunities at the other end of the field.
