Update: New Glarus Hotel Project Marches Toward 2026 Reopening
Renovation work continues on the historic New Glarus Hotel & Restaurant as the ownership group moves toward a planned 2026 reopening while preserving the building’s history and adapting it for a new era.
The transformation and renovation of the historic New Glarus Hotel & Restaurant continues to move forward, with crews deep into renovation work that will restore one of the village’s most beloved landmarks. Built in 1853 and located at the corner of Sixth Avenue and First Street, the hotel has long been a symbol of Swiss heritage and small-town hospitality. Now, under the direction of the New Glarus Hotel Group, it’s being reimagined for a new generation while preserving its unmistakable character. And there’s progress.
According to Christina Bleifuss, Managing Member President, the biggest milestone so far has been the property’s addition to the National Register of Historic Places. “It not only protects the building’s story but also opens access to historic tax credits that make quality restoration possible for a business,” Bleifuss said. “We are set to open our doors to be serving pints by September 2026. Oktoberfest, here we come!”
