The New Glarus Village Board will consider the concept plan for a new band shell in Village Park during its meeting on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The proposal comes after a recommendation from the Parks & Recreation Committee earlier this month.

The preliminary design shows a wooden structure approximately 40 feet wide in the front, tapering to 20 feet at the back, and 20 feet deep. The design is similar to a band shell already in use in Reedsburg, Wisconsin’s City Park, first constructed in 2011. The proposed location is on the west side of Village Park along 2nd Street, centered above the terraced landscaping wall.

The initial proposal includes steps on both sides of the stage to connect with the greenspace below, handicap accessibility features, a park bench in the back, and engraved bricks to enhance the setting. The concept drawings also include a Swiss shield at its apex.
