Village Board Faces Budget, Election Equipment Decisions

The New Glarus Village Board will meet Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at Village Hall, with a wide-ranging agenda that includes the second workshop on the 2027 budget, replacement election equipment, two computer servers and several ongoing capital projects.

The budget workshop will focus primarily on funds that do not rely on the property tax levy, including the village’s utilities and tax incremental districts. Across all funds, village expenses are projected at more than $10.5 million annually, and a public hearing on the 2027 budget is scheduled for Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.

Among the numbers trustees will review, the sewer utility projects $1.61 million in operating income and $1.25 million in expenses for 2027. The electric utility projects about $3.26 million in operating revenue and $3.12 million in expenses, while the water utility projects $833,710 in operating revenue and $797,177 in expenses.

The workshop will also include the village’s tax incremental districts. Downtown TID No. 4 generated $309,436 in increment in 2026, according to the meeting packet. The village has budgeted $200,000 from that district for downtown streetscape work, with about $140,000 spent so far, including proposed seating.
