Brent Weeden earned a Division 2 state medal with a third-place finish in the shot put, while Tucker Sysko competed in the high jump and New Glarus capped its first season back as an independent program with four state entries.

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Brent Weeden gave New Glarus a state medal Saturday, placing third in the Division 2 boys shot put at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) State Track and Field Championships.

Weeden, a junior, finished with a best throw of 58 feet, 6.75 inches. His top mark came on his second attempt and held up for third place in a strong state field that included two throwers over 60 feet.

Hudson Samolinski of Winneconne, a senior, won the event at 61-2.75, while Wyatt Graffin of Columbus, also a senior, was second at 60-4.
