Wisconsin Newspaper Association Adopts Broader Name

The Wisconsin Newspaper Association’s new identity reflects the digital future of local journalism, a change welcomed by New Glarus 360 as it prepares to seek full Business Membership after its first anniversary in September this year.

Wisconsin Newspaper Association Adopts Broader Name

After 173 years representing the state’s newspaper industry, the Wisconsin Newspaper Association has adopted a new name intended to better reflect how journalism is produced, distributed and consumed today.

The organization will now be known as the Wisconsin NewsMedia Association, while continuing to use the familiar WNA abbreviation. The change was announced Monday, July 20.

The association said the new identity recognizes that Wisconsin news organizations now reach readers through far more than printed newspapers. Member organizations also publish through websites, email newsletters, mobile applications, podcasts, social media, streaming services and digital subscription products.

For New Glarus 360, the change is a welcome recognition of something its readers have already demonstrated: The way people receive local news has changed.
