About 28 residents attended Thursday night’s public hearing in New Glarus on preliminary special assessments tied to the 2026 11th Avenue reconstruction project, with most living in the affected area.
The hearing focused on 11th Avenue between Railroad Street and Fourth Street and Valley Lane between Fourth Street and Fifth Street. Under the proposal, property owners would be assessed for 100 percent of curb, gutter and sidewalk replacement and removal costs allowed by law. The broader project also includes underground utility work, street reconstruction and stormwater improvements.
