Green County’s GIS Data Viewer gives residents access to parcel maps, zoning information, property records, aerial imagery, and other tools that support research, planning, and decision-making.

Green County's Internet Mapping Tool Empowers Residents

When Green County residents need information about property lines, zoning, school districts, or municipal boundaries, they increasingly turn to the Green County GIS Data Viewer, an online mapping tool that puts detailed land records, parcel data, and assessment information at their fingertips. This powerful web mapping application, maintained by Green County Land Information Officer and GIS Specialist Rob Sommers, is a crucial resource for homeowners, realtors, surveyors, and business owners alike.

“The Green County GIS Data Viewer is a robust web mapping application containing many layers and advanced tools,” Sommers explained. “Its most important purpose is to provide a very approximate view of property lines, and a means to access ownership and assessment information.”

A Tool with History

The project began as part of a statewide initiative to make parcel mapping publicly available. Parcel mapping in Green County was first completed in 2007, with the final 125 challenging parcels finished in 2018–2019. An online viewing tool was made available around 2009, and by 2016, the Data Viewer had taken on the look and feel that residents recognize today. In 2025, the platform was upgraded again for improved functionality and stability.
