Historic Photo: Anderson’s Ben Franklin Gets Its Sign
A downtown New Glarus photo captures the mid-1970s moment when Anderson’s Ben Franklin took shape, replacing the former Uffelman’s store with a new sign, new facade and new ownership.
This historic photo of downtown New Glarus captures more than a crew of workers hanging a sign. It shows a familiar local storefront in the middle of becoming something new.
The photo shows Anderson’s Ben Franklin during a remodeling project, with ladders leaned against the front of the building and workers installing the store’s new sign. In the window, a handwritten notice tells the story plainly: “Remodeling – Under new management. Please excuse our mess.”
