How to Start or Manage a Subscription

Learn how to begin a New Glarus 360 subscription, choose the right plan, update your payment method, review your account, change or cancel a membership, and understand what happens to your article access after a subscription ends or expires.

How to Start or Manage a Subscription

A New Glarus 360 subscription provides access to members-only local news and helps support independent journalism serving New Glarus and the surrounding community.

Whether you are subscribing for the first time or need to make a change to an existing membership, most subscription tasks can be completed through your New Glarus 360 account.

How to Start a Subscription

Visit the New Glarus 360 website and select the red Subscribe button in the upper-right corner of the page. On a mobile device, tap the menu button—usually shown as three horizontal lines near the top of the screen—and select Subscribe. You will then be shown the membership plans currently available.

Review the price, billing period and benefits included with each plan before making your selection. You may toggle between monthly and annual billing.

Annual plans are paid once per year. Monthly plans are charged each month until canceled.

After selecting a plan, enter the email address you want associated with your New Glarus 360 account and provide the requested payment information.

Use an email address you check regularly. New Glarus 360 uses that address for sign-in links, newsletters, payment notices, renewal reminders and other important membership communications.

Once payment is successfully completed, your account should receive paid subscriber access. You may need to refresh the page or sign in again before opening a locked article.

How to Pay by Check

Readers who do not want to enter payment information online may purchase an annual subscription by check. Please read our help article about how to pay by check for details.

How to Sign In to Your Account

Select the Sign In option on the New Glarus 360 website and enter the email address associated with your membership.

The publishing platform used by New Glarus 360 uses secure email sign-in links rather than traditional passwords. Open the email sent to you and select the sign-in link.

Use the newest sign-in email you receive. An older link may no longer work after another sign-in request has been made.

Check your spam, junk or promotions folder if the email does not appear in your inbox.

After signing in, return to New Glarus 360 and open your account or membership area to review your subscription.

How to Review Your Current Subscription

Your account area may show information such as:

  • Your membership status
  • Your current subscription plan
  • Whether you are billed monthly or annually
  • Your next billing or renewal date
  • The email address associated with your account
  • Your payment method
  • Whether your subscription is scheduled to renew or end

The exact information displayed may depend on the type of subscription you have and how the membership was purchased.

How to Update Your Payment Method

Open your account or subscription settings while signed in with the email address connected to your paid membership.

Look for the option to manage your subscription or update your billing information. You may then be directed to a secure billing page where you can replace an expired card or enter a different payment method.

New Glarus 360 does not receive or store your complete card number. Online payments and billing changes are handled through the secure payment system connected to the website.

Updating your card does not normally change your subscription plan or billing date. It simply changes the payment method used for future charges.

How to Change Your Subscription Plan

Available plan changes may depend on the subscription tier you currently have and the plans being offered by New Glarus 360.

Open your account and select the option to manage your subscription. If another plan is available, follow the instructions displayed to make the change.

A change from one paid plan to another may affect the amount charged, the billing schedule and the benefits included with the membership. Review all information shown on the confirmation screen before approving the change.

Some changes may take effect immediately, while others may begin with the next billing period.

Contact New Glarus 360 if the plan you want is not shown or if you are uncertain how a change will affect your account.

How to Switch Between Monthly and Annual Billing

A subscriber may be able to move between monthly and annual billing if both options are available for the selected membership tier.

Sign in and open the subscription-management area to see whether another billing option is offered.

Review the effective date and amount before confirming the change. The system may calculate a prorated charge or credit based on the time remaining in the current billing period.

Readers paying by check must use annual billing.

How Automatic Renewal Works

Online paid subscriptions generally renew automatically unless they are canceled before the next billing date.

A monthly subscription is normally charged each month. An annual subscription is normally charged once each year.

The renewal payment is charged to the payment method associated with the account. Keeping your card information current helps prevent an interruption in access.

A subscription purchased by check does not renew automatically.

What Happens if a Payment Fails?

A renewal payment may fail because a card has expired, been replaced, reached its limit or been declined by the card issuer.

You may receive an email explaining that the payment could not be completed. Follow the instructions in that message or sign in to update your payment method.

The payment system may attempt the charge again. If payment cannot be completed, your paid subscription may eventually become inactive and access to locked articles may end.

Updating your payment information promptly can help prevent a disruption.

How to Cancel a Subscription

Sign in to New Glarus 360 using the email address associated with your paid membership.

Open your account or subscription settings and select the option to manage or cancel the subscription. Review the information displayed before confirming the cancellation.

In most cases, canceling stops the next automatic renewal. Your paid access may continue until the end of the billing period for which you have already paid.

After that date, your account may remain registered as a free member, but you will no longer be able to open stories reserved for paid subscribers.

Deleting a newsletter subscription or unsubscribing from emails does not necessarily cancel a paid membership. You must use the subscription-management option or contact New Glarus 360 to stop future billing.

Can a Subscription Be Paused?

A temporary pause may not be available through the standard account-management screen.

If you do not want the subscription to renew, cancel it before the next billing date. You may subscribe again later using the same email address.

Contact New Glarus 360 before making a change if you have questions about whether a pause or another arrangement is available.

Refunds and Partial Billing Periods

Subscription payments are generally nonrefundable.

Canceling a subscription normally prevents future renewal charges but does not create a refund for the unused portion of the current billing period.

New Glarus 360 does not provide prorated refunds for memberships canceled before the end of a monthly or annual term.

How to Restart a Canceled or Expired Subscription

Sign in with the email address already connected to your New Glarus 360 account.

Select a currently available paid subscription plan and complete the payment process. Using the same email address helps preserve the connection between your account and membership history.

Once payment is completed, paid access should be restored. Refresh the article or sign out and sign back in if the website does not immediately recognize the new subscription.

Managing a Complimentary Subscription

Some readers may receive complimentary paid access for a limited period.

A complimentary subscription does not automatically charge a payment card. When the complimentary period ends, paid access may expire unless another complimentary period is granted or the reader purchases a subscription.

You may still be able to sign in after complimentary access expires, but locked articles will require an active paid or complimentary subscription.

To continue your access, select one of the paid subscription plans offered by New Glarus 360.

Changing Your Email Address

Your membership is connected to the email address used when the account was created.

Do not create a second paid subscription under a new email address simply because you want to change your account email. Doing so could result in duplicate memberships or charges.

Contact New Glarus 360 and provide both your current membership email address and the new address you would like to use. We can review the account and determine the best way to make the change.

Never email your password or complete payment card information.

Avoiding Duplicate Subscriptions

Before purchasing a new subscription, try signing in with any email addresses you may have used previously.

A reader who subscribes again under another address could accidentally create two separate paid memberships.

Check your email for past New Glarus 360 receipts, newsletters or sign-in messages to identify the address associated with your existing account.

Contact us if you believe you are being charged more than once.

Newsletter Preferences and Paid Access Are Different

Your paid subscription and your newsletter preferences are related but separate.

You may remain a paid subscriber while unsubscribing from one or more newsletters. You may also receive a free newsletter without having paid access to locked articles.

Changing your newsletter preferences does not normally cancel your paid subscription.

To stop future subscription charges, manage or cancel the paid membership through your account.

Still Need Help?

Contact New Glarus 360 if you cannot find your subscription, update your payment information, change your plan or cancel your membership.

Include your name and the email address associated with your account. Briefly explain what you are trying to do and describe any error message you received.

Do not send your password, full card number, bank account information or other sensitive payment details.
