New Glarus Ranks Sixth in Wisconsin for ACT Composite Score

A new district release puts New Glarus High School among Wisconsin’s strongest ACT performers, while school board materials show where local students rank against nearby districts across elementary, middle and high school assessments.

New Glarus Ranks Sixth in Wisconsin for ACT Composite Score

New Glarus High School students posted an average ACT composite score of 23.2 on the spring 2026 statewide 11th-grade assessment, the sixth-highest average among all Wisconsin school districts, according to the School District of New Glarus. The result comes as the School Board prepares to review a broader set of 2026 state testing data Monday night.

Only Whitefish Bay, Elmbrook, Arrowhead Union High School, Cedarburg and Middleton-Cross Plains Area High School scored higher than New Glarus, according to the district. The ACT is required for all juniors and was administered in March. “We are proud of our students and the work they put into their education each day,” New Glarus High School Principal Jeff Worzella said.

The 23.2 figure is the school’s average ACT composite score. The test-score tables included in Monday’s School Board agenda package use a different measure: the percentage of students meeting expectations in individual subject areas, along with comparisons to other area and peer districts. The packet includes Forward Exam, PreACT and ACT results.
