New Glarus Students Organize Summer Blood Drive

New Glarus High School students will once again be rolling up their sleeves to help save lives.

The school's FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) chapters are organizing a community blood drive on Monday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the New Glarus High School gym.

The event continues a tradition of student-led service that gives local residents an opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of others. According to blood collection organizations, a single blood donation can help multiple patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatments, trauma care and other medical procedures.

In addition to helping meet the ongoing need for blood donations, the drive provides students with hands-on experience in leadership, event promotion and community engagement. Student volunteers help publicize the event, coordinate donor appointments and assist with day-of logistics while trained medical professionals oversee the donation process.

Previous blood drives organized by New Glarus students have highlighted the strong community support for the effort, with residents, school staff and eligible students participating.

Organizers encourage anyone who is eligible to consider donating. Blood donations are needed year-round, and supplies can be especially important during summer months when schools are out of session and regular donation schedules are disrupted.

The New Glarus High School blood drive will be held Monday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school gym.
