Ponies Battle Through Tough Night at Barneveld
Monticello-New Glarus collected four hits but could not overcome Barneveld’s big fourth inning in a 12-0 road loss Monday in Six Rivers softball action.
BARNEVELD, Wis. — Monticello-New Glarus faced a difficult road test Monday night, falling 12-0 to Barneveld in five innings. It was just the Ponies’ second loss of the season, with both defeats coming against Barneveld, who has proven to be the Ponies’ kryptonite this year.
The Ponies managed four hits in the game, getting singles from Molly Olson, Heidi Olson, Mallory Miller and Morgan Jordan. Natalie Cupps also reached base for Monticello-New Glarus, while Eliza Legris drew two walks to help spark the offense.
Barneveld took control early with three runs in the opening inning before adding two more in the third. The Golden Eagles then broke the game open with a seven-run fourth inning to secure the shortened victory.
