BENTON, Wis. — The Monticello-New Glarus Ponies exploded for 23 runs Friday night, pounding out 16 hits in a dominant 23-5 road victory over Benton/Shullsburg in five innings.

The Ponies put pressure on Benton/Shullsburg from the opening inning and never let up, scoring in every frame while taking advantage of 14 walks and nine opposing errors. Monticello-New Glarus led 7-0 after three innings before erupting for eight runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to put the game out of reach.

Senior Molly Olson led the offensive barrage from the circle and the plate. Olson went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two doubles while also earning the win in the circle, striking out eight over five innings.
