Sugar River Raiders Roll Through Busy Weekend
Sugar River outscored opponents 8-3 across three varsity matches over the weekend, highlighted by a seven-goal Capitol Conference win at Columbus and a shutout victory during the Swiss Kick in New Glarus.
COLUMBUS, Wis. — The Sugar River Raiders varsity girls soccer team turned in a dominant weekend stretch Friday and Saturday, showcasing offensive depth, defensive consistency, and strong play in difficult early-season heat.
Sugar River opened the weekend Friday with a commanding 7-0 Capitol Conference road victory over Columbus before returning home Saturday to host the 21st Annual Swiss Kick tournament in New Glarus.
Nikole Schultz wasted little time setting the tone Friday afternoon in Columbus, scoring just 28 seconds into the match off an assist from Ella Woodmansee. Schultz’s early strike helped ignite a Sugar River offense that poured on six second-half goals in the clear and hot conditions.
