A U.S. Census Bureau field representative was in New Glarus this weekend for the National Crime Victimization Survey, prompting some residents to question whether the visit was legitimate.
A U.S. Census Bureau field representative working in New Glarus this weekend raised questions from some residents, including at least one call to police from someone unsure whether the Saturday visit was legitimate.
The man was identified on a business card as a field representative with the Census Bureau’s Chicago Regional Office and he also carried a badge He said he was in the area conducting the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), a long-running federal survey used to measure crime and victimization trends.
