York Electors to Vote on $450,000 Property Purchase Oct. 22

Town of York electors will vote Thursday, Oct. 22, on whether to authorize a $450,000 purchase of the Postville Blacksmith Shop property adjoining Town Hall, a proposal intended to provide more space for town equipment and potentially other municipal functions.

The special elector meeting begins at 7 p.m. at York Town Hall, N8105 Postville Road. Qualified town electors must attend in person to vote. If they authorize the transaction, the Town Board will convene a special meeting immediately afterward to consider the purchase and financing terms.

The town has released an information sheet identifying the purchase price, two possible borrowing plans, the anticipated property tax impact and the results of preliminary due diligence. The proposed purchase involves two parcels at N8131 Postville Road, currently owned by Seidler Properties LLC.

The offer is for $450,000, plus related expenses and closing costs. The Town Board is recommending that any elector authorization be limited to this specific purchase rather than grant the board general, continuing authority to buy property.
