York Electors Unanimously Back $450,000 Property Purchase

Town of York electors unanimously authorized the Town Board on Thursday, Oct. 22, to purchase the Postville Blacksmith Shop property adjoining Town Hall for $450,000, clearing a major step toward acquiring additional space for municipal equipment.

The vote came during a special town elector meeting at York Town Hall, N8105 Postville Road. Qualified electors attending the meeting voted on the limited, one-time authorization for the property at N8131 Postville Road. No opposing votes were recorded.

The proposed acquisition covers two parcels totaling approximately 1.5 acres, including a metalworking facility of about 7,000 square feet. Town officials say the property could provide dry, secure storage and maintenance space for road trucks, an excavator and other equipment.

The unanimous authorization allows the Town Board to proceed with the specific $450,000 purchase. A separate special Town Board meeting began afterward to consider the transaction, but the supplied recording ends before documenting any board vote or final borrowing decision.
