ATTICA, Wis. — Fire crews from New Glarus, Monticello and Albany responded Sunday evening to a brush fire at W2677 County Highway C, Albany, just west of Attica.
Initial dispatch traffic described black smoke visible over a hill, with authorities initially uncertain whether they were dealing with a structure fire or brush fire. Dispatchers also indicated there was no scheduled controlled burn in the area at the time.
Crews later confirmed they were responding to a brush fire that had gotten out of control. The fire was located at the end of a long driveway, creating access difficulties for responding apparatus.
