Highway 69 Reopens Today After Summer of Detours

Traffic returns today to Highway 69 between Monroe and New Glarus, but the project is not finished. Contractors now expect the next phase of milling and paving to begin Sept. 14 under flagging operations, with daytime delays anticipated as work moves north.

Highway 69 Reopens Today After Summer of Detours

After more than six weeks of detours, Highway 69 and County C/Urban Road will reopen to traffic today, Aug. 28, marking the end of the project's full closure phase.

The reopening restores through traffic on Highway 69, including the newly reconstructed County C roundabout and the bridge area north of the County F intersection.

While drivers can once again use Highway 69, construction is not over. The next phase of the project will shift from full closures to moving work zones controlled by flaggers.

According to the latest weekly construction update from Jim Grender, P.E., of CGC, Inc., only limited work is planned for the week of Aug. 31.
