MINERAL POINT, Wis. — Sugar River Raiders senior Nora Christensen placed second Saturday at the WIAA Girls Sectional G-E Tournament in Mineral Point, earning a trip to the WIAA State Wrestling Tournament and making program history in the process.
With her runner-up finish, Christensen becomes the first female wrestler in Sugar River history to qualify for the WIAA State Wrestling Tournament. The state tournament will be held Feb. 26-28, 2026, at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Christensen went 3-1 on the day, recording two first-period pins and a rule victory to secure her second-place finish in a competitive sectional field.
In the quarterfinals, Christensen pinned Riley Grefe of Kettle Moraine Lutheran in 1:10. She followed that performance with another dominant showing in the semifinals, earning a fall in 0:59 over Lillian Heisner of Mineral Point.
The senior advanced to the first-place match against Waunakee’s Ellie Lenzendorf, where she was defeated by fall in 0:52.
